The story behind the creation of Undercrown has become the stuff of cigar folklore; when Drew Estate’s factory workers were unable to continue smoking the Liga Privada #9 while working, they came up with their own similar blend now known as Undercrown. Drew Estate’s master blender, Willy Herrera, challenged the workers to concoct a Connecticut-based blend that would satisfy his discerning palate, and with his assistance, the work on Undercrown Shade began.
Draped in a silky smooth Ecuador Connecticut wrapper over a Sumatra binder and Dominican Criollo ’98 and Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo long-fillers, Undercrown Shade is an absolute foray of flavor while remaining balanced and smooth. Mellow to medium-bodied, expect hearty nuances of toast, citrus, and cream, spotted with slight hints of spice.
